FSSAI Registration
FSSAI registration or licence is mandatory for persons engaged in food-related activities including manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, or sale of food products. The registration/licence is granted by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Types of FSSAI Licenses
FSSAI License Registration is categorized under three categories as mentioned below:
1. FSSAI Basic Registration
Annual turnover up to Rs. 1.5 crore
2. FSSAI State License
Annual turnover more than Rs. 1.5 crore and up to Rs. 50 crore for food businesses
3. FSSAI Central License
Annual turnover more than Rs. 50 crore or specific categories (importers, exporters, e-commerce operators, etc.)
Note: From 01.04.2026 Revised Turnover Thresholds will apply.
Procedure for FSSAI Registration / Licence
• Preparation of application and required documentation
• Filing of application in Form A (Basic) or Form B (State/Central) on FoSCoS portal
• Scrutiny of application by the concerned authority
• Grant of registration/licence or issuance of clarification/inspection notice, if required
• Issuance of FSSAI certificate upon approval
